The 84 Hour Prayer Initiative

If weak in prayer, we are weak everywhere. (Leonard Ravenhill)

    Be encouraged.

Read what happened during the actual hours of prayer.

Anyone who was in the prayer room during the 84 Prayer Initiative could update the prayer room blog with prayers they’ve prayed, prophetic words, and section leaders also posted updates.

At one moment there were North Heights Christian Academy children in the prayer room. Get a sense of what went on in there.

What people are saying about The 84

I loved my time in the prayer room. It was so sweet to sit in the tangible presence of the Lord in unity with many other believers.

I am so honored and thankful to be part of all God is doing at North Heights, and the 84 is one of my very favorites! I sense it is one of God's fondest memories too.

God bless you and the team for facilitating so many of us drawing near to the Darling of Heaven. I pray that we will see the fruit of our prayers transforming us and the world around us.

About the 84 Hour Prayer Initiative

North Heights 84 Prayer Initiative was held Wednesday, March 28, 7pm through Sunday, April 1, 7am. People signed up for one, two, three hours for March 28, 29, 30, and 31, 2012. Additionally, there was open worship all four evenings from 7 to 10pm. Families,  friends, discipleship groups, or ministry teams came and prayed as the Lord led.

We were reminded that all prayer is worship. Unplugged music was led by various musicians each evening from 7 to10pm while participants came to join in quiet, ongoing, soaking worship.

Twelve years ago THE MOST HIGH GOD OF THE UNIVERSE spoke to two men on two continents during the same week. One was Mike Bickle in Kansas City, Missouri and the other was Pete Greig in Guildford, England. These two founding champions of prayer heard the Lord's plans for thousands of people in hundreds of places praying. Learning to pray - by just praying. The International House of Prayer in Kansas City has been worshiping non stop since then. Other 24-7 worship prayer experiences continue in many places following this model. The people in Guildford said 'if the Moravians can pray for 100 years we can pray for 30 days'. After they prayed everything they knew how to pray and thought they were done - they weren't - and the prayer continues. Their emphasis on Prayer, Mission, and Justice has continued as a chain of prayer, every hour of every day since then and today people are praying this way in over 119 countries. Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, the USA. Over 119 counties now have these prayer rooms.

We asked if we could have a prayer room at North Heights and combine these two concepts of open worship hours AND also encouraging signing up and coming to pray. We asked everyone who came to "pray at the Lord leads." We agreed with Leonard Ravenhill who said: 'If weak in prayer, we are weak everywhere'. We found this quote from a prayer room like ours in Scotland last October. Our church was united in the common purpose of spending time with Jesus and seeking the Father's heart, and discerning the Spirit's step for our lives and the church. Unity!

The 84 hours involved every generation at this church. From 19 months old to 90. We spoke to every ministry at North Heights to be sure they felt welcome and a part of this united time of prayer. We had people from other churches and ministries in the area coming to pray, even to work and keep the prayer fire burning. Our friends at Crossroads Community Church in Cokato were praying for 84 hours when we were. Unity. We were a church UNITED IN A COMMON PURPOSE. Prayer - spending time with Jesus, Father and Spirit.

UNITED We came into the prayer room with about 40 colorful sticky notes with names and prayer requests. This was our wailing wall. Do you see the map of the world, the USA, and the map from the Missions office with the North Heights missionaries? There was a place to create art, a nook to pray privately, a communion station, and obviously the children from the North Heights Christian Academy were with us to use the supplies in the children's corner.

UNITY Because we were home sleeping you won't see pictures of those who were praying through the night and keeping the prayer fire going. It was great to work with young adults and we thank them. One young adult wrote this at 1:30 in the morning - on the blog. I quote: "And when people go to the wall to pray over the other prayers besides their own, that is creating UNITY. Even though we probably do not know who the people/person is that we are praying for, it is bringing us closer together, and God is rejoicing in heaven because of that! We are just about to start hour 32. Let's remember Romans 15:6 as we come together in a "SPIRIT OF UNITY AS WE FOLLOW JESUS CHRIST".

Hebrews 10:23 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another.

Please continue to pray as the LORD LEADS and for UNITY.
