Ruby’s Pantry

North Heights facilitated a successful and well appreciated Ruby’s Pantry food distribution on Saturday, April 25 at our Arden Hills campus. Three-hundred-eighty-five food shares were distributed to the community—nearly double our normal food distribution. This would not have been possible without the combined efforts of North Heights volunteers—including many from our Student ministry and community volunteers from Meals from the Heart.

“It was Fun!” said Xander Wheatly, one of our eighth grade students. “It felt so good to be helping people like this.”

Another North Heights student who volunteered hadn’t been out of her house since March 16.

“It was cool to see all the people that wanted to help during this time,” said Student Ministry Leader, Derek Haugen. “The amount of volunteers was insane.”

Thanks also to Cub Foods, Lunds and Byerlys, Walmart and Menards who provided supplies and Ramsey County Sheriffs department who provided traffic control.

One of our volunteers shared that a woman, after donating money to cover her food share, handed the volunteer $100 to pay for the next five cars. The volunteer told each of those food share recipients that their share had been paid for by one of the cars ahead. After expressing their gratitude, one of the recipients handed the volunteer $20 to pay it forward to the next person in line.

North Heights is planning the next Ruby’s Pantry for Saturday, May 9, 9–10:30am, Arden Hills. More Info.

Message from Sr Pastor TJ Anderson

An update on our church-wide day of Prayer and Fasting and send your in-home worship photos for our Easter service.

A Day of Prayer and Fasting, Wednesday, April 1
We are asking everyone who is part of North Heights to join us in a Day of Prayer and Fasting on Wednesday, April 1 (no fooling).

Instructions»

We will focus our hearts and minds on Christ Jesus who is the source of our hope, our peace, and yes, even our joy.

We desire to seek God’s mercy in the power of the Holy Spirit. And that God would grant us grace and strength in this trial to perfect our faith.

Let's call out to God and be the ones who stand in the gap between people and tragedy. Let us be proactive in prayer.

2 Chronicles 7:14: If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn  from their wicked ways,  I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sin and I will heal their land.

Then let's reach out to others by calling, texting, emailing or sending letters.

Send Your Worship Photos

We are asking you to send pictures of you or your family worshiping at home during this time of shelter-in-place. We will compile the photos together for our Easter service. Please email your photos to photos@nhlc.org.

A Call to Prayer by Sr Pastor TJ Anderson

Out of Numbers 16:47 Aaron ran out and stood between the living and the dead, he stood between the plague and where the people were.

Through prayer, we too, can take a stand in Jesus Name, between fear and faith, between hope and hopelessness, between life and death in our world and this plague through prayer.

God’s is calling His people to prayer as it says in 2 Chronicles 7:14:

If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sin, and I heal their land.

Since we are unable to gather publicly in prayer, we are inviting you to pray where ever you are each day at noon.

  • Call out to God on behalf of our country, this land, and this world and repent
  • Stand against the fear that has gripped every level of our society
  • For a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit and that revival would break out globally
  • To mobilize North Heights and the church in the Twin Cities and worldwide to be strong as we reach out to our neighbor that many would come to faith in Jesus during this time

Please pray with us:

God, we thank You that You are God and that You’ve got this. Thank You that we can turn to You and You can be the One that will heal our land. Lord, forgive us for the sins of our country. Forgive us for the unwillingness sometimes to turn back to You. Lord, soften our hearts. Turn the hearts of the people of this country and around the world to You. And Lord, we pray now, in Jesus Name, against the fear that is gripping people. Fill us with Your hope knowing that You have this and are going to use it. Lord God we pray for those who don’t know You, that You would send your Spirit out, that faith would rise up in them, and You would draw them to You Jesus as we hold You up and lift You up as our Lord and Savior of all. Move powerfully in Your Name Jesus we pray. Amen

If you have a specific prayer request, email prayer@nhlc.org and we will pray for you.

Stay up-to-date by visiting: NorthHeights.Church/BreakingNews.

Remember, God’s got this, and God is with you every moment.

God’s blessings on your week.

UPDATE FROM SENIOR PASTOR TJ ANDERSON

Joshua 1:9 says, have I not commanded you, be bold, be strong, do not be afraid, do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God goes with you wherever you go!

The North Heights leadership team met Monday morning to pray and discuss the recent impacts of the Coronavirus. For your safety, we have decided to honor state and national government recommendations and close our Roseville and Arden Hills facilities through Sunday, March 22. This means there will be no classes, events or public worship services. We’ve also adjusted schedules for our Christian Academy and Pre School.

Instead, please join us online this Wednesday for Lent Services at 11:30am and 6:30pm and this Sunday for Worship at 9am, 10am, and 10:45am by visiting NorthHeights.Church/LiveStream. Also visit the North Heights Facebook page for the 10AM Sunday Worship service.

This is a fluid situation. We will continue to provide updates and do our best to keep you informed on all things North Heights.

When all is said and done, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be obvious if we under reacted and did too little.

We are taking things a week at a time. For us, the first thing to do is take time to pray. We need to be on our knees seeking God first. If you have a specific prayer need, please email your request to prayer@nhlc.org.

If you support North Heights during public worship on Sunday mornings, there are three ways that you can continue to financially support your church while we hold online services this weekend:

  1. Text your gift to 612-255-4541
  2. Give online by visiting northheights.church/give
  3. Mail a check to: North Heights, 1700 West Highway 96, Arden Hills, MN 55112

I am so grateful for your generosity and commitment to North Heights. God has a plan for us and will continue to use North Heights to make a difference.

Our prayer for you during this time of uncertainty is that you will experience the peace and certainty of Jesus.

March 14, 2020

A Video Message from Senior Pastor TJ Anderson

As you know we are facing a global health situation caused by the Coronavirus outbreak. This is a fluid situation and we are doing our best to keep you informed. The guidelines from the government are changing sometimes moment by moment. For your safety, health officials urge that social distancing is necessary right now.

In light of this, we believe it is our call to respond proactively with prayer and action in order to care for one another and our neighbors in the name of Jesus.

This puts the church in a strange place. We know that in times of fear and panic, God’s people gather together. In times of sudden uncertainty, God’s people need each other. Scripture tell us that we are not meant to be alone. God’s Word also teaches us to honor those in authority over us, which includes our government leaders.

The North Heights leadership team has made the decision not to gather publicly for worship this Sunday, March 15. Instead, we will broadcast our 9am and 10:45am Roseville and 10am Arden Hills worship services at northheights.church/livestream. The 10am Arden Hills worship service will also be broadcasted on the North Heights Facebook page.

We encourage you to worship with us online this Sunday and also join us in prayer. We believe this is a great opportunity to invite your friends, neighbors, relatives, coworkers and anyone else to experience God’s presence through worship and the Word, whether that’s in your living room or theirs.

As of right now, all public events normally held at our Roseville and Arden Hills campuses are cancelled through Tuesday, March 17, including the dance academy and ABKA karate.

At this time North Heights Christian Academy and NEHI Christian Preschool will remain open.

This is a fluid situation, and our Leadership Team will meet early this week to put together a holistic plan of how we will move forward as a congregation over the next few weeks. We will keep you up-to-date through email and at NorthHeights.Church with our plans going forward for worship, classes and events. Visit Breaking News for the latest information.

Here are a few things we want you to remember:

  • Pray First
  • Trust and know that God has this
  • And then take the next right step forward

Please know that we are praying for you. God bless and keep you in this season, and may the love of Jesus give you peace and courage to serve Him and others in this time of need.

A call to prayer from Senior Pastor TJ Anderson

In Second Chronicles God tells His people, that if His followers, the people called by His name will humble themselves and pray, God will heal their land. The Coronavirus is not bigger than God, and God has this just like He has us in the palm of His hand.

God, we pray. You and you alone are God, and we trust you. In Jesus name, we pray against the Coronavirus and all the fear it is causing. Lord God, we pray that You will heal this land, in Jesus name. Amen.

Based on today’s guidelines and recommendations from government officials about the Coronavirus, North Heights is taking the following precautions for the safety and wellbeing of our church family.

All public events and classes, including Sunday School and Worship services at both campuses are cancelled through Tuesday, March 17, 2020. Both Arden Hills and Roseville campuses will be closed on Sunday.

Public events and classes that are cancelled include:

  • Friday Night Lights
  • Ruby’s Pantry (Tentatively rescheduled for Saturday, March 21)
  • Sunday Worship services
  • Sunday School
  • Sunday Adult and Student Education
  • Special Needs service
  • Monday Night Prayer
  • Centershot
  • Men of Integrity
  • Parkinson’s Support Group
  • Cover to Cover
  • First Place for Health
  • I Am His Club
  • Healing Ministry Teaching

Following government recommendations, schools will remain OPEN:

  • North Heights Christian Academy
  • NeHi Preschool
  • Academy Kids
  • Celebrate Dance Academy
  • ABKA Karate

We see this virus as an opportunity to activate North Heights in a whole new way!

Even though we cannot meet together as a large group, this is a perfect opportunity for you to gather with family, friends, and neighbors online.

Join us ONLINE for Worship this Sunday!

We will stream our Sunday Worship services at 9AM, 10AM and 10:45AM at northheights.church/livestream. Our 10am worship service will also stream on facebook.com/northheightslutheranchurch.

North Heights & the Coronavirus

The concern about the coronavirus has reached a heightened state of awareness. North Heights wants you to know that we are following federal, state and local agency recommendations while we continue our weekly activities.

Keeping our facilities clean and safe for you and your family are a high priority—especially high-touch areas as door handles, handrails, counters, crash bars, etc. In addition to hand soap located in restrooms for hand washing, we have added hand sanitizer (with over 60% alcohol) throughout our campuses.

During services, North Heights will be applying these preventative measures to keep germs at bay:

Greeting others

  • Replace handshakes and hugs, with smiles, eye contact and warm words

Communion

  • Communion servers will dispense a wafer in your palm
  • Communion cups will be spaced further apart; carefully take a cup directly from the serving tray

Offering

  • Instead of passing an offering plate, ushers will direct a procession to the offering plate, or you may give online nhlc.org/give

Altar Prayer

  • Instead of the laying on of hands, prayer ministers will extend their hand

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued these helpful guidelines:

  • Avoiding exposure is the best way to prevent infection
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
  • Cover your mouth and nose with your forearm when coughing and sneezing or use a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds at a time with soap and water; if no soap and water are available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with 60%-95% alcohol

Cybercrime
Cybercriminals are beginning to capitalize on the public’s desire to learn more about the outbreak. There are scams that attempt to steal personal information, infect devices with malware, peddle false information or sell scam products. Some criminals are using CDC letterhead or fake CDC email addresses. Do not give out personal information unless it is a verified and trusted entity.

If you are looking for trusted information on the coronavirus, visit reputable websites like U.S. Center for Disease Control or the World Health Organization.

Call to Prayer
Above all, God has the coronavirus under control. This situation provides us a “Call to Prayer.” Please be in prayer for healing, prayer for the containment of this virus, and prayer for divine wisdom for those working towards solutions.
